As the calendar barrels towards summer, it’s imperative that we, as runners, prepare our wardrobes accordingly for the looming heat wave. While hydration is also a key part of a “cool running” strategy, it goes hand-in-hand with wearing the right thing on your body.
Let’s start from the top. During hotter summer months, opt for a visor made of moisture wicking technical fabric. The open top of the visor will allow your body to work to cool you naturally without trapping heat like a hat, and will still shade your face from the sun. For this, try out our Elite Run Visor.
Moving down, stick to apparel that is loose fitting and moisture wicking to stay both cool and dry out in the heat. For the Peachtree Road Race, we recommend the following apparel.
Women –
And
Men-
And
Both singlets feature our CoolTouch technology- it’s literally cool to the touch. CoolTouch provides a cooling feeling even before you run in the heat. In addition to FEELING cool, the CoolTouch technology also wicks sweat away from the runner’s body to keep you dry throughout the run. The clothing stays light and dry throughout the run to help you reach your maximum potential.
And finally, don’t forget your feet! Warmer temperatures usually come along with increased humidity. When the air is hot and more humid, your feet tend to heat up as well, leaving the opportunity for friction to occur between your sock and your foot which can lead to unwanted blisters. Paired up with a pair of Mizuno’s (find the best shoe for your using our handy tool!), a pair of moisture wicking socks makes for the perfect combination to keep your feet free of rubs and blisters. Try the DryLite race low sock for race day.
