MyGolfSpy’s much anticipated 2018 Ultimate Driver Test has been unveiled. Mizuno’s ST180 driver has lived up to it’s ‘surprise package’ reputation, ranking #1 for carry distance.
The test demonstrated how closely many of the leading drivers performed, with less than 3 yards of carry between the top 10 drivers. It also backed the ST180’s claim to have a very efficient ball flight, generating it’s yards without having the very highest ball speed on test. The Mizuno GT180 driver also ranked in the top 10 for carry distance – just over 1 yard behind the ST180 and a slightly higher ball speed (4th fastest on test).
Tour Operations Manager, Alex Thorne commented, “This result breaks any preconception that certain heavily marketed drivers are flying 20 yards further. The leading brands are now much closer than most golfers realize. We’re very happy that the Mizuno ST180 ranked #1 for golf club carry distance, but ultimately these results release the golfer to be correctly fitted for the driver they like best. We’re not saying everyone should play a Mizuno driver now but, the ST180 should definitely be on your shortlist.”
